Hidden Art Designer-Makers Forging Trends at SaloneSatellite 2008
Milan, April 16-21, 2008

Hidden Art's UK designer-makers on stand at this year’s SaloneSatellite will further define the trend for stark lines and shadow play which made such an impact on the show last year. Without Hidden Art, a not-for-profit organisation supporting UK designers and designer-makers, this inventive and idiosyncratic upcoming British-based collection would not get the lucrative opportunity to launch their work (and careers) during the Milan Furniture Fair.
2008 will mark the Hidden Art Select range’s Milan Launch, as the award winning Jeeves & Wooster lights are put on display.

UK Designer-Makers Gareth Neal, Daisuke Hiraiwa and Mark Irlam all take last year’s line based patterning trend and take it in new directions via both new designs and new materials:
• Gareth Neal’s Anne Table, nominated for a Blueprint award during 100% Design 2007, returns in a new form; making the change from hand-made wood to production-based white Corian.
• Daisuke Hiraiwa’s Skin of Spaces lighting installations take the common objects of disposable cutlery and mutilate them into stark, textured forms.
• Mark Irlam takes advantage of CNC wire bending technologies to create his Wire Frame Chairs and Wire Frame Lamps, which throw simplified versions of the structural shadows that made a big splash throughout Milan 2007.

Hidden Art Select’s Jeeves & Wooster lights (by Jake Phipps) will also be accompanied by fellow Hidden Art Award winners Scene, with their modular Schtum seating design. Rounding up this year’s list of exhibitors is Lina Meier, with Ollo Eatingware, and Jonathan Tibbs with his Stick Tables.

The complete list of designer-makers on the Hidden Art stand is as follows:
• Daisuke Hiraiwa – Skin of Spaces (installation lighting design)
• Gareth Neal – Anne Table
• Jake Phipps – Jeeves & Wooster (lighting - Hidden Art Select)
• Jonathan Tibbs – Stick Tables
• Lina Meier – Ollo Eatingware
• Mark Irlam – Wire Frame Chair and Wire Frame Lamps
• Scene – Schtum (modular seating)
