Hidden Art’s new scheme Innovative Routes to Market launched at UBS Investment Bank
Press Release

Hidden Art’s new scheme, Innovative Routes to Market, launched successfully at UBS Investment Bank’s Innovation Forum on March 3.

Innovative Routes to Market develops innovative collaboration-based solutions designed to take a new product from the initial idea into production. This is achieved through tapping into the rich vein of expertise available within the Hidden Art community of designer-makers, mentors and specialists.

Over the course of the seven-month programme, participants will develop an original product, process or service, assisted by members of the Hidden Art Pool of Specialists, mentors and project partners. This assistance will also focus on gaining access to funding. The programme will run twice, first in 2006 and then again in 2007.

Innovative Routes to Market is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, with additional support provided by UBS Investment Bank. Project partners include the London Metropolitan University, Knowledge East (a collective of eight universities in East London and the Thames Gateway), Briffa, Own-IT and London Remade.

Patsy Francis, Director of Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs, coordinates UBS Investment Bank’s involvement through their existing volunteer programme. During the Innovation Forum, UBS Employees met participants, viewed their work and heard about their business with a view to working in a supporting role.

Several of the participants exhibited this year in Milan on the Hidden Art stand in the Salone Satelite, including:
  • Ryan Frank,
  • Junior Phipps (whose concrete lights were featured on the Apprentice),
  • Francisca Prieto, and
  • Pete Williams.

Viable, another exhibitor at Salone Satelite, also participate in the project.

Hidden Art is a membership organisation that supports and promotes designer-makers, while offering companies and members of the public access to original design.
