Hidden Art unveils new design talent at 100% Design 2004

Hidden Art is a respected platform at 100% Design, launching some of the brightest new stars in the business to the international market.
This year Hidden Art presents a selected range of 10 new and emerging London design talents whose work covers a range of design disciplines at 100% Design on stand L14 (Earls Court, 23-26 September):

Among the works exhibited are diverse ideas that challenge our preconceptions of everyday objects. The display of manufactured designs and prototypes have been developed and produced using new techniques and industrial processes. From Susana Shaw’s innovative tableware to Dominic McCausland’s versatile furniture and beautiful glass and ceramics from Aline Johnson and Alexandra Mitchell, the ideas range from serious to the more playful. All the products demonstrate extremely high quality design and production in an unusual and inspired range of materials.
Heal’s, the UK’s leading contemporary furniture and home accessories retailer, will make its first showcasing of innovative products commissioned through the Hidden Art Design Brokerage service at 100% Design. Rock Galpin designed the Lobo lounger, a luxurious deep reclining chair in response to the Heal’s brief for a new classic easy chair (exhibited on Hidden Art's stand L14). Peter Ayres designed the Lotus pendant, in response to a brief for a modern, playful chandelier (exhibited on stand D80). A range of products commissioned by other companies will also be launched on stands around the show (see notes below).
This is the sixth year that Hidden Art has a presence at 100% Design, showcasing the work of selected members based in East London. The Hidden Art initiatives started over 10 years ago as a small open studios event in Hackney. Run by the not-for-profit support organisation Mazorca Projects, Hidden Art has expanded to incorporate a range of showcasing and support opportunities for designers. This is the third year that 100% Design and Mazorca Projects have run a bursary scheme for Hidden Art designers to exhibit at the show.
