Starck School of Design

Deadline: 8 August. Internationally renowned designer Philippe Starck will be heading up a specially created School of Design in Paris.  And he’s looking for untapped design talent in the UK to be his first students.

Ten aspiring designers with the talent, drive and vision to create the next ‘must have’ products of the 21st Century will be given the unique opportunity to learn and work alongside Starck and his team over a period of several months. At the end of it, one person will continue on for a six-month placement.

Calling Creative Women: Free Business Advice Sessions


Deadline: July 20.
Free Business Advice session for any women graphic designers, web designers, furniture makers, metal workers, (not jewellery), also Inventors, Eco businesses e.g. making products from recycled or sustainable materials, or creatives who are dealing in art or are running an art gallery.

If living or have a studio in the London you can have a free business advice session a specialist Creative Industries Adviser. You can already be trading or just thinking about setting up.

North London Project 'Pathways'

Deadline: end of August 2008.
If you live or have studio based in the boroughs of Haringey, Enfield, Waltham Forest or Barnet and have been trading for more than 18 months, you can have a free one-to-one business advice session with a specialist Creative Industries Adviser.

Manfrotto Design Contest

Manfrotto is looking for young creative people, students, artists, and designers from all over the world to invent the support of the future. them your ideas, your projects, your dreams on how the next generation photo/video support should be. Participation is free of charge.

d3 design competition - Germany

Interior design prototypes by young international designers are requested for The Cologne International Furniture Fair. The German Design Council will select a number of products to be shown in Cologne in January 2009.

FX International Interior Design Awards


Deadline 20 June 2008
: The 10th FX Awards Ceremony, taking place in October, calls for entries for design projects or products for interiors.  Design categories include Leisure, Workspace, Retail and Public Spaces.
