Understanding the product development life cycle is critical for any designer maker.  The session examines how to plan and approach the product development process with a focus on real life case studies and examples.                                            

Discussing Product Development, Linden Davies

Linden Davies, Design Consultant, will discuss the business case and rationale for new product development. His talk will incorporate how design adds value; asking you to consider perceptions, materials and process as he reveals successful case studies.

John Sprange, speaking on Product Development

This year's Hidden Art Product Development Award recipient, JSCD’s John Sprange, will talk about the process and product development of MindDice, which was developed to help in the care of dementia patients.  

Matthew Judkins will be speaking on Product Development

Matt Judkins, Founder of Made in Mind, will discuss how you can use and develop business plans to help give direction and structure to your business and obtain funding.

Product Development Speakers, Sarat Babu and Matt Johnson

Sarat Babu and Matt Johnson, Materials Designer and Designer from the Bureau of Research, Engineering, Art and Design (BREAD), will cover the history of materials, their relationship to craft and the inception of mass production and its effects. This will include new paradigms of mass customisability, localised manufacturing and new technologies which afford a much more in-depth relationship with material and its fabrication.
