Business Dynamix - Managing Director
Peter
Ives is an experienced coach/ mentor/ consultant specialising in the
development of knowledge/ technology based businesses. Founding
Managing Director of Business Dynamix Ltd and the Business Mentoring
Academy. He has wide managerial experience of strategy development in
large and small businesses as well as government agencies.
Peter's
financial background together with innovation, marketing and eBusiness
has provided a unique insight into the issue facing businesses in the
New Economy. Peter has worked and negotiated with EU, National and
local Government bodies as well as regional strategic bodies.
Peter
will be offering advice about how designer-makers can achieve a better
return from their resources and how they can adopt new techniques and
technologies to improve the way they do business.

Speaker 2: Martin Blum
Black + Blum - Designer-Maker
Martin Blum set up design business Black + Blum in 1998 with Daniel Black, whom he studied with at Newcastle.
In
2000 they designed a range of lighting and exhibited this range at 100%
Design in London. Since then the range has expanded to 28 different
lighting and household products.
Their products have won over 10 International and National Design Awards.
Black
+ Blum exhibit their products at trade fares worldwide and are sold
through approximately 600 outlets worldwide, including: MoMA NY, MoMA
San Francisco, Conran Shop in London, New York and Paris, Aram London
and Heal's.
Martin
will be talking about a wide range of issues that concern increasing
sales. These will include; pricing work, selling online and through
shows, and dealing with international sales.
Speaker 3: Fiona Elliot
Elliot Associates - Consultant
Fiona
started her retail career as a buyer for Habitat UK and Senior Buyer
for Habitat International, developing unique products from a worldwide
supplier base. In 1992 she began Elliott Associates building upon her
specialist field of buying, which includes buying strategy and policy,
product development, sourcing, range planning, budgets and market
appraisals, with retailers such as House of Fraser, BHS, Wedgwood, and
Body Shop as well as with UK wholesalers and Chinese factories. This
extensive experience has given her an excellent understanding of the
retail supply chain.
In addition
to her consultancy work she has conducted seminars on elements of
retail buying and on marketing for New Designers in Business and BSSA.
In 2000 she published 'Retail Buying Techniques', part of the BSSA
series of text books for retailers, which covers all aspects of the
buyer's role from strategy to merchandise development to performance
review.
