Review and Pictures
During this year’s Schools Open Studios Project,
participating secondary school pupils worked on specially designed worksheets
to chart the steps of demonstrations and activities or to write answers to
questions about designer-makers wares, inspiration and marketing.
Sharon Mitchell, a textiles teacher from St. Paul’s Way
School provided encouraging feedback from here pupils, saying how they “really
enjoyed” visiting studios and getting ideas for their textiles shoe project
back at school.
Pupils from Skinners’ Company’s School for Girls wrote the
following quote in their newsletter in response to the schools visits:
“This inspired us as young artists to explore the industry
further”
This project attracted mainly older secondary school pupils
in key stage 4 Design and Technology groups, with some participating pupils
from the ‘Gifted and Talented’ groups in their school; therefore well on their
way to a career in the creative industries.
