Meeting the heart of London design!

2005 was the 12th year for our Open Studios event, offering members of the public access to London’s designer-maker community and an opportunity to buy unique design in the run up to Christmas. Designer-makers from across London opened up their studio doors over the two weekends, allowing insight into how ceramics, furniture, lighting, textiles and all kinds of contemporary interior products are designed and made.

There were 80 participants in nearly 50 venues with something for everyone! Visitors could experience the heat and magic of live glassblowing, explore the design oasis of Broadway Market, discover new talents and meet famous names, find a local potter’s workshop and learn about the hidden gems in their neighbourhood by taking one of our walking tours.

New for 2005 was Muswell Hill’s design cluster and 17 participants from our franchise Hidden Art Cornwall.
