For the fourth year running Mazorca Projects hosted the Hidden Art Forum - a series of discussions, presentations and case studies focussing on the manufacturing sector. The event took place over 2 days in July at Furniture Works>> at the London Metropolitan University, and attracted a range of people from all aspects of the design community including designers, manufacturers, press, architects and retailers.
Each year the Forum aims to develop better understanding between designers and manufacturers. This year the Forum explored how manufacturing companies operate and gave examples of best practice, uncovering the many issues involved in production.
The Forum also explored new ways for designers to market their products and ideas successfully, and how to promote themselves as a creative business.
Feedback has been very positive and comments received on the evaluation forms include:
“It seemed very relevant to my business”
“Very inspired by the speaker and his enthusiasm for intelligent knowledgeable design”
"Very interesting, very relevant”
“The quality and content of discussion and interaction was even better than I expected”.
Risk – Special Exhibition
Curated by designersblock
The show presented the acknowledgment of ‘risk’ as a strategy by which designers may reach their markets. There were examples of innovative and experimental projects that have been successfully taken into manufacture, text to explain the route from idea to product and the opportunity to feedback on the Hidden Art Design and Manufacture Project.
