Central Saint Martins' trained designer Emma D'Arcey has developed herown innovative hand-marbling techniques to create truly unique silkfabrics, textiles and surfaces. For each individual piece, layers ofpaint are carefully applied onto a thickened watery gel andpainstakingly manipulated by hand into the desired design. Thenexclusive materials such as crepe de chine and duchess satin are laidon top of the gel, effectively absorbing the design and resulting in avisually stunning mix of patterns and colours rarely achievable usingmore conventional methods.

Emma has her own fabric andtextile collection, where lengths can be ordered (prices range from£130 - £250 per meter) or alternatively she also works with designerson a collaborative basis.
