Textile Artist, Deepa Panchamia createsabstract sculptures and site-specific installations for interiors.  Herphilosophy is to challenge conventional perspectives of Textiles andher interests lie in the intertwining concepts of scale and space,structure and surface. Working predominately with strong transparentfabrics and occasionally leather, she creates sculptural fabrics thatcan be moulded and manipulated, to produce architectural textileformations (mountainous structures, elongated tunnels and suspendforms). The use of transparent material creates an interaction betweenthe exterior and interior textural surfaces, adding levels of depth andvolume to the structure.

Workingfrom her London-based studio, she undertakes projects, exhibitions andcommissions for interior spaces in the UK and internationally.  Shesolely creates one-off handmade pieces and recently created large-scaleWall Sculptures for a beachhouse in the Caribbean Island, Mustique. Shehas received Arts Council awards for previous projects and was awardedthe 2008 Premio Valcellina Award for Textiles & Fibre Art inItaly.  Deepa Panchamia is a Visiting Lecturer and has been invited toparticipate in International Artist Residencies where she continues topush the boundaries of constructed textiles.
