Inspired by Mughal architecture as well as patterns in Indian textiles, my work takes a humble material, aluminium, and transforms it into a beautifully detailed piece of jewellery. Applied on aluminium, these patterns reveal their captivating sensuality. Rich designs and the use of a non-precious material have combined to form accessories of feminine elegance. A contemporary interpretation of an old art.
I particularly enjoy working with aluminium as it lends itself easily not only to metal techniques but also to techniques of fabric dying. Each piece is finely handcrafted and unique. Fine craftsmanship and exacting standards are used to transfer Mughal patterns and traditional Indian textile motifs onto aluminium, which is then anodised and painstakingly filled with delicate hues of dyes. There are infinite interpretations of these patterns, which gives birth to a unique group of creations.
