Alexandra's bangles and brooches are encrusted with china shards found on Hampstead Heath and collected on the Thames foreshore, vintage buttons from her mother’s sewing basket, coins from her father’s old treasure box, Venetian glass smalti and sea glass, shells and pebbles picked up on her travels around the world.
Each piece of jewellery is wrapped in 23 carat gold. Vibrant colours, rich textures, images and patterns are revealed as, like alchemy the micro-thin metal transforms her materials. Worn old coins become miniature renaissance portraits and faded seashells are transformed into tiny sculptures. A client’s own precious pieces can also be incorporated into her work.
Alexandra is a painter and makes large embellished wall pieces by applying the techniques she uses in her jewellery. Her paintings were recently selected for the first class suites on a new cruise liner, and the footballer Sol Campbell has chosen her work for his Chelsea home. Her jewellery attracts clients in Shanghai, Istanbul and America
Brooches: £150, Bangles: £330 Paintings: from £1400. NB As every item is handmade using found materials, the colours, shapes and patterns are unique to each piece and are not repeatable.
