Preksha Baid designs and manufactures products that explore the boundaries between textiles and architecture, where textile creates and defines a space. Y-walls?Design creates interiors that are both functional and aesthetically sustainable. Y-walls?Design offers a set of playful textile walls, which are interactive and flexible. They can be used as space dividers, for installation, or as wall hangings for both interior and exterior spaces. Available in two ranges, morphic polyester walls and translucent silk walls, the design, size and colours can be customised for different environments. The flexible structures are made using pleating techniques and patterned using a mix of digital, transfer and screen-printing. Different pleating arrangements can complement the scale of any interior space. In addition, magnetic edges allow the user to adjust the shape and length of the wall according to his requirements. The USP of Y-walls?Design products is that they are portable and easy to install. Both visually and aurally interactive, the use of magnets with textile initiates a playful dialogue between the product and the user. The length and depth of the walls can be adjusted using integral magnets. Walls are solid, dense and static structures. Y-walls?Design challenges this perception by making them playful, flexible and translucent structures, which can be shaped, sculpted and transformed in seconds. These wall panels introduce a fun and poetic way to twist the boundaries and appearance of a space. Y-walls?Design aims to provide innovative space design solutions by expanding the range of textile walls with new textile treatments and design aesthetics in future. Preksha works to commission on a variety of projects for individuals and companies as well as selling her own product range. Price range: £500 upward.
