I am inspired by a passion for collecting. Everyone collects something; we live in a culture so obsessed by possessions that you have to consciously decide not to collect. My collections range from lost babies dummies which I started collecting in 1992, to paper ephemera, dinosaurs and playmobil hats. Rescued, recorded, labelled and displayed my ongoing collections are my obsession. My ideas are formed from everyday objects and are transformed through the medium of print, stitch and assemblage. I create original artist multiples that disguise themselves as manufactured products and sit comfortably in a shop, museum or gallery display. I enjoy playing with words to explore humour and make work that is desirable and tactile to its audience. I graduated in Fine Art Printmaking from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1995. Since then I have been making and exhibiting work for a number of exhibitions and working part time within art education. |
