Liz Emtage’s porcelain lighting is translucent, emitting a warm glow that accentuates the inlaid patterns on the lamp surface. Inspired by nature, the surface is often textured with grasses, leaves, seeds and flower heads; according to clients requests or what inspires her. The colours in the clay body are chosen to compliment the pattern on the lamp surface and vice versa. 

Liz is constantly trying out new techniques and experimenting with the clay in order to expand the range of lights and finishes that can be produced. The latest designs include screen prints of sandpatterns from Thailand; textures created by found objects from the beach; using glaze stains as if they were watercolours on the clay surface. 

When lit the lamps emit an ethereal glow, converting the surface decoration into textures of light. When off the lamps become sculptural pieces, rich with subtle surface pattern.
