I originally trained in Interior Design at Middlesex University, London, which led to further studying in Ceramics and in 1999 I graduated with an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. While at the Royal College of Art, I pioneered a technique of shattering, colouring and re-laminating industrial glass. The resulting panels combine refinement with rawness, spontaneity with control. My approach of smashing and cracking glass is a means of drawing and making controlled but spontaneous structural ‘marks’ which actually form part of the structure of the glass. Although studio based, I use industrial and commercial glass laminating processes. I am the author of ‘Glass Lamination’, published by A&C Black in 2004. I recently worked on a four-panel piece for the P&O super-liner Arcadia. It is because of the extraordinary close collaboration between Architects, designers and other artists, that made this project a great success. I have a studio in London and I use a studio in Germany for the manufacturing of bigger pieces. Price range: £750 - £75,000 |
