Urban Upholstery Ltd uniquely upcycles existing furniture. They revamp discarded furniture with a great understanding for their potentials matching highly skilled craftsmanship and individual style. The selection and composition of salvaged and design textiles of different texture and finish, sometimes organized, symmetrical and repetitive and other times abstract, playful and dynamic, emphasizes the colour, texture and other qualities of the materials themselves. “We love the challenge of looking at any furniture that has been discarded as waste and thinking of something amazing to make with it."
Andrea Simonutti & Patrizia Sottile, founders of the company, provide a bespoke service to discerning clients who consider the environment as well as design.
They seek to create a more responsible, interesting and aesthetically pleasing environment. "We see upholstery as an art that allows us to interpret the potentials in every day life and we wanted to create a new line of furniture that improves people lives and their relationship with the environment. 
We have always recycled furniture because we are very passionate about old features and objects, reading their history and transforming them. As designer we approach furniture like miniature architectures, able to create space and to identify with the person that owns them”.

Our Atelier-Showroom displaying Urban Upholstery collection plus an extensive stock of fabrics and reclaimed frames is at:

21 De Beauvoir Rd, London N1 5SF. 

We are open Mon-Fri from 9am - to 6pm and Saturdays 10:30 am – 2:30pm, please book an appointment for commissions. 

We also sell interior accessories and art-pieces by other local designers and artists including lamps, cushions, paintings, wallpaper, printed fabrics, etc.

Urban Upholstery_events presents every 2 months a designer, artist, crafts-maker.
We are displaying their work at our showroom at 21 De Beauvoir Road, London, N1 5SF and
occasionally we are engaging in a collaborative project with them.
Next round to send expression of interest will be December 2009 to exhibiting from May 2010.

“CITY WORKS”  by  ATADesigns & Urban Upholstery 14th Sept - 10th Nov 2009
“CITY WORKS” celebrates ATADesigns & Urban  Upholstery  bold and contemporary approach to   design that fi nds inspiration from Urban   Environments.  As collaborative work they are presenting “Ore” a pair  of nursing chairs that have been rescued from the  street and re-designed by Urban Upholstery with  ATADesign fabrics. “CITY WORKS” includes a selection of works as  furniture, cushions, fabrics, wallpapers, lampshades  and tiles. ATADesigns, Designs Contemporary Wallcoverings, Ceramic Wall Tiles, Lampshades,  Fabrics and Cushions. They specialises in unique cutting-edge print designs for the  interior and exterior market.
