Burgundy Applegate is an artist specialising in fine furniture, but furniture inspired and informed by art of all disciplines, particularly printmaking, fashion and jewellery. With a love of wood, traditional shapes and subtle lines, yet also of the boldness of design found in art deco and nouveau, she seeks to combine quality materials and traditional methods with a modern, clean sensibility to create beautiful, practical furniture which stands out.

Burgundy's current facination is with patterning. From Liberty prints and mosaic tiling, through to the incredible beauty of islamic decoration, she tries to find new ways of incorporating these aesthetics to bring both graphic detail and colour into furniture.

Trained at the Rhode Island School of Design in the USA, all of her work is handbuilt and finished by herself in her workshop in London. She has a range of her own products but also works to commissions.
