Anthony Roussel uses sustainable wood and the epic sweep of the British coastline to create intricate, sculptural, astonishingly beautiful jewellery. Inspired by the tactile nature of wood and it’s inherent symbolism, Roussel juxtaposes this traditional material with the most innovative technology, questioning existing notions of preciousness and challenging our perceptions of contemporary jewellery.
   
The complex linear patterns in Roussel’s work have drawn him to new technologies such as 3d software, rapid prototyping and laser cutting. “These give my designs a controlled fluidity and accuracy. Multiple layers cast subtle shadows that accentuate the quality of line that is central to my work.”
   
Roussel has already made an impression on both the art and fashion markets with distinguished awards to his name and stockists that include the Electrum Gallery, The Tate Modern Shop & Musée des Arts Décoratifs, amongst others.
