Whilst originally from Perth in Western Australia, Charles
Trevelyan has been working in London for several years; initially in graphic
design before moving to 3D design. In 2005 he set up the design studio Viable
London with Magnus Long and Gala Wright, which, in just a few years has gained
international recognition. He continues to work on individual projects, and has
recently been working with Carpenters Workshop Gallery in London.
Charles Trevelyan’s work draws strongly on his graphic design
background, extrapolating two dimensional elements into three dimensional
forms. Often angular and geometric like the Elle Decoration award nominated
Shelflife, his furniture displays a distinct visual character and an ingenious
use of positive and negative space. His work has been widely published in books
and magazines around the world, and has been exhibited at the Design Museum in
London.
